Franchise Resources for Veterans

Franchise Decisions is committed to helping veterans achieve financial freedom through entrepreneurship. We have assembled a list of tools specifically for veterans since we recognize that establishing a business can be challenging. The Small Business Administration (SBA) provides many programs and initiatives that can help veterans interested in entrepreneurship. One of these is the Veterans' Business Outreach Center Program (VBOC), which offers business training and counseling from 16 locations and online assistance. Veterans can also take advantage of the Patriot Express Pilot Loan Initiative, which has approved more than $500 million in low-interest small-business loans for veterans, reservists, and their spouses since its creation in 2007.

In addition, the SBA and Syracuse University have partnered to create the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV), which provides one year of entrepreneurship training to service-disabled veterans. This program is now expanding to six more business schools around the country. Women veterans, reservists, and military family members can also benefit from the partnership between Syracuse University and the SBA through the Women Veterans Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship (V-WISE) and Operation Endure & Grow programs, respectively. Veterans can gain the skills and support they need to launch and run their businesses successfully by utilizing these resources.

VetFran

Franchises are often recruited as military veterans and their loved ones by franchisors. VetFran is an initiative of the International Franchise Association (IFA) that offers financial incentives and training to veterans interested in franchising. Veterans make up 14% of Franchises nationwide, according to VetFran, significantly more than the 7% of veterans who make up the overall population.

Military Skills and Franchising

Franchising has become an attractive option for many veterans who are looking for a new challenge after serving in the military. This is large because both military duty and franchising include following established plans and having the capacity to collaborate well with others in order to achieve a common objective. The discipline, work ethic, and leadership skills that are prevalent in military service are all qualities that translate well to running a franchise. In fact, many franchisors actively recruit veterans as Franchises because they have found that veterans make excellent business owners.

For veterans who are looking to make the transition to civilian life, franchising can be an ideal career option. It allows veterans to capitalize on their existing skills and experiences while also providing them with the opportunity to build a successful business. For example, veterans who have served in leadership roles in the military often find that those skills are easily transferable to running a franchise. Franchisors also provide extensive training and support, which can help veterans make a smooth transition to entrepreneurship. Overall, franchising is a great way for veterans to achieve financial freedom while also putting their military training and experience to good use.

At Franchise Decisions, we believe that every veteran deserves the opportunity to achieve financial freedom through business ownership. We are dedicated to providing the support and resources necessary to make that a reality.

There’s so much more to tell you about franchising.
